Information Strategy & Governance

Information Strategy & Governance – or ISG – is the approach Fidra use to address the single most important question any organisation needs to answer about any of their information systems, specifically:

How can we make sure this system is continually able to deliver information to our people that is valuable to them and their role?

When you think about it, this question is actually made up of many other questions:

  • How do we know what is valuable information?
  • When is this information needed?
  • How should it be provided and to whom?
  • Where does this information come from?
  • How is the information managed over time?
  • How do we improve the provision of this information?

Answers to these questions, and more, are what inform an effective Information Strategy & Governance Plan. An effective ISG Plan will provide your organisation with a competitive advantage, by facilitating better and quicker decision making capabilities across a much better informed team.

An ISG Plan will articulate your organisations policies, procedures, standards and guidelines for the following aspects relating to your information systems:

  • Governance Hierarchy
  • Information Architecture & Design, including
    • Content Governance
    • Classification Governance
  • Resources, including
    • Team Roles & Responsibilities
    • Key Team Memberships
    • Supporting Infrastructure
  • Operational Policies
  • Governance of Systems’ Environment
  • System Usage & Governance Policies
